Window panes become solar power plants

PORTFOLIO NEWS
The eCAPITAL portfolio company Heliatek from Dresden is in an optimistic mood.

After years of research, it started series production of its organic thin-film solar solutions a few weeks ago in its newly opened factory, which it now aims to accelerate. Already 70% of the 2022 production is sold out, and a second factory is already being considered.

Unlike other solar modules, the organic solar films developed by Heliatek are thin, bendable and, moreover, not harmful to the environment, as they are free of silicon, lead and other pollutants.

The potential applications of the solar foils are manifold. Almost all surfaces of buildings, cars and trains can be covered with the transparent films. Even window panes can be turned into solar power plants. It is impressive what the Heliatek team and its investors have achieved in the past few years, especially in view of the fact that everything came about at a time when no one believed in a solar industry made in Germany.

Heliatek has thus also attracted the attention of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Henning Peitsmeier talked to Heliatek CEO Guido van Tartwijk and eCAPITAL CEO Paul-Josef Patt about Heliatek GmbH’s plans for the future. Read the detailed article here.
