VisioLab’s AI Checkout System Deployed at the FIFA World Cup

In its Start-up Check series published on 15 July 2026, Handelsblatt featured VisioLab and its AI-powered checkout technology, which was used throughout the FIFA World Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The entire stadium was equipped with the company’s cashierless solution: cameras automatically identified the food and beverages selected by customers, while the AI calculated the total and processed payment seamlessly. During the England vs. Argentina semi-final alone, up to 75,000 spectators interacted with the system.

In the article, journalist Nadine Schimroszik traces VisioLab’s journey from modernising checkout systems in university cafeterias and workplace canteens to becoming a fast-growing technology partner for major sports venues in the United States—from its largest customer, the Orlando Magic, to its recently secured deployment at a rugby stadium in Auckland. With around 500 installations and approximately one million transactions per month, VisioLab has built impressive momentum through its iPad-based AI technology and a clearly scalable business model.
