The VC-Stammtisch year started with the BVK

Under the title “Venture Capital in Germany – Trends, Perspectives and Politics” she gave insights into the market sentiment and into recent topics relevant to the industry. We say thank you for this highly exciting presentation and the subsequent discussion!

During the event, Ulrike Hinrichs reported on the record year of VC investments in 2021, which was not only accompanied by a growing number of market participants, but also by a historic peak in market sentiment among VC investors. However, VC investments in Germany are significantly below average in a Europe-wide comparison. One of the BVK’s clear expectations of the new government is therefore to increase the focus of this legislative period on strengthening the German start-up and VC ecosystem.

In addition, Ulrike Hinrichs addressed various measures that might leverage Germany’s currently untapped potential in the area of start-up and VC financing. These range, for example, from advancements of the German “Future Fund” and a concrete implementation of the topics in the coalition agreement to a significantly stronger commitment of politicians. She also discussed with the participants, among other things, the role of the state as an investor in VC financing, the consequences of the current change in ministries, and the impact of the low proportion of German start-up investors in Germany. Finally, Ulrike Hinrichs ended the VC-Stammtisch Düsseldorf with a short but optimistic assessment of the VC market development for the current year 2022.
