Open-Xchange (OX), an eCAPITAL portfolio company, demonstrates that open-source software can successfully support critical IT infrastructure at scale. As a provider of open communication and productivity software, OX is part of one of the largest open-source transformation projects in the German public sector.

As part of its digitalization strategy, the state of Schleswig-Holstein is migrating around 60,000 workplaces to open technologies. A key milestone has been the successful migration of approximately 44,000 email mailboxes to the Open-Xchange platform. The project highlights how open-source solutions can strengthen digital sovereignty while meeting the highest standards of security, data protection, and scalability.
