Novaled Co-Founder Prof. Karl Leo joins eCAPITAL’s Entrepreneurs‘ Council
eCAPITAL NEWSAs co-founder of Novaled AG and Heliatek GmbH, Karl Leo has long been associated with eCAPITAL AG. Karl Leo studied physics at the University of Freiburg, earned his doctorate in physics at the University of Stuttgart and habilitated at the RWTH Aachen. In addition to his professorship for optoelectronics at the TU Dresden, which he has held since 1993 (with an interruption from 2003 – 2006), he is involved in numerous advisory boards. In the past, he was a member of the supervisory board of Novaled AG and the advisory board of sim4tec GmbH. He is currently active on the advisory board of Heliatek GmbH and the Excellence Network “Complexity and Topology in Quantum Matter”.
In the course of his career, Karl Leo has been honoured with numerous prizes and awards, including the Otto Hahn Medal of the Max Planck Society, the “Nobel Prize of German Science”, the Leibniz Prize, the German Future Prize of the Federal President and most recently, in 2021, the European Inventor Award of the European Patent Office in the category “Lifetime Achievement”, to name but a few.
Karl Leo and eCAPITAL AG have already travelled a long and successful journey together. I have known and appreciated Karl Leo since eCAPITAL's first investment in Novaled AG in 2005 and have had the privilege of working closely and trustfully with him on various occasions since then.
