Christoph Ostermann strengthens the eCAPITAL advisory board
eCAPITAL NEWSChristoph Ostermann studied business administration at the University of Bayreuth and subsequently worked as a management consultant. He first developed a hobby interest in renewable energies, which he finally turned into his profession: In 2010, Christoph Ostermann – together with his partner Torsten Stiefenhofer – founded sonnen GmbH (formerly Sonnenbatterie GmbH). sonnen has already received numerous awards for its innovative products and rapid growth: In 2016, for example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) named the company to the list of the 50 most innovative companies worldwide and at the beginning of 2017 it was awarded the world-renowned Zayed Future Energy Prize.
In February 2019, sonnen was sold very successfully to Shell New Energies. The takeover attracted a lot of media attention and was awarded the title of “Cleantech Deal of the Year” by the American Cleantech Group – and was thus a trend-setter for the entire industry.
eCAPITAL was the first external investor to join sonnen at the beginning of 2013 and accompanied the company as a VC lead investor on this journey from a small start-up to a global innovation leader.
